No damage to report!

After my recent escapades, I thought I should maybe post to say that I managed to get to work, stay all day, and get home again yesterday, without any slips, trips or falls! This may sound a small achievement, but I'm hoping to build on it, and get through today in the same way ;)
No work today, though, so I'm also hoping to get my first quarter items all polished off for a clean start tomorrow, 1st April

New beginnings, rolling home and Christmas pressies

Just getting ready to kit up for the lovely sampler on Gazette94's blog. We're doing a SAL over at Hadenmaiden's House starting at the beginning of the second quarter of the year, so officially 1st April.
I managed a neat little bit of stitching yesterday, but can't share the picture, as it's part of a Christmas gift for someone who reads this page.......
Had a walk out this morning - did just over 7 miles, and managed to fall into a pothole on the disused airfield! No damage done, and I did cause good entertainment value with my graceful[???] roll apparently. So, at least I gave someone a smile today ;)

Finishing off - not my forte

I finished stitching this piece over a week ago, but have procrastinated over the finishing off - it's a small sampler for a wedding gift for the receptionist at work

Almost forgot to post my update on the totally useless SAL Here you go:
Not sure what the weekend's stitching will be- but the notion of knittig during the week and having theweekend off to stitch does seem to be working[except that I'm not doing as much stitching as I'd like!] Hope you all have a good weekend.

A friend's birthday card reminded me of this one, and I just had to share.
Happy birthday, Yvonne

Catching up with the Spanish Sampler ladies

Well done to the men in green for winning the Grand Slam yesterday - cracking match that had us all in suspense till the very last seconds - hard luck to Ryan Jones men - so close and yet so far away ;(
Also, many congratulations to the English ladies on taking the ICC World Cup in Sydney. Not my game, but well done anyhow!!

After a bit of a stitching binge this weekend, I've managed to complete part four. Hope to start party five next weekend, after a week's knitting!
Wishing all you ladies out there, a very happy Mothering sunday - whether you are, or were a Mum, or if you are remembering your own Mum on this special day.

Happy Mother's Day

Sorry, couldn't resist it ;)

353 and counting

I realised, with horror, this week that I had over 400 contacts on my Genesreunited account, and promised myself that I'd make a concerted effort to cut it down. I've managed a bit, gettting down to 353 this morning, but it's still not exactly manageable. Whilst I'm feeling virtuous that I've done a bit of pruning, there's more to go, so that looks like my after lunch task....

In the pink, but not a runner?

If you've considered doing the Race for Life, but not quite found the energy - London Stitch 'n bitch might just have come up with the answer for you. They're doing the Race for Life, knitting chemo caps - and they've got a couple of really easy patterns that you can get for a small donation - doing your bit but not getting out of breath!

A couple of quick finishes

Managed to do the 12" square for the Ravelry CAL this week, and just put the finishing stitches in a quilt square for a quilt that Kay is hosting

Spring has sprung

And that means it's time to get into the garden! For those of you who missed emma's brill bookazine last spring, she's being reprinted this spring. I believe you should be able to pick this up at Tesco

And if you fancy something a little more grown up you could try this one
Watch this space for really exciting stuff later in the month, when Emma has her new full length book published!

Marching on with the CAL squares

I finished the 6" squares for the Ravelry CAL today - and will probably get the 12" done tonight

Part 3b!

Bob was away last night, which meant I had the main light on and didn't feel guilty about it! Consequently, we have part 3b of the Spanish Sampler all done, and good progress now being made!

Not as wiggly as it would appear!

I managed to get a bit more of Sarah's wedding sampler done, but unfortunately took the picture with the piece on top of the duvet - so it looks wiggly! It isn't but I'm too idle to take another picture till the wording is done ;)

Part 3b of the Spanish Sampler is next.

Tony and Twizzle

I forgot to say yesterday, that we were rounding the week off with a trip to see Tony and Twizzle. Brilliant, Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding are absolutely wonderful. If you get the opportunity to see any of their Lip Service productions, grasp it with both hands! We've seen them in Withering Looks, The Knights of the Occasional Table, and Hector's House. All were brilliantly done and quite hilarious ;)

TGI Friday!

No I haven't been to a fast food outlet for lunch, just pleased the day has come and [almost] gone! Last week my neighbour's Mum died - she was a good age, and it was a release. Sadly my neighbour was widowed some time ago, and so she didn't her husband to support her through the arrangements that were needed. Hence, a bit of a trying week for all of us. Anyway, Dear Doris was laid to rest at lunch time, and everyone seems to have survived. It was the first time i'd been to the crem. since we took Mum last year, and I was expecting a difficult time, but it was OK. Whilst we were there we went to visit our baby in the infants plot. It's years since I was able to visit, and the plot has changed such a lot. Last time, it was just a rose bed, with no plaques etc, now there's a lovely memorial at the front in memory of all our babies, and another from SANDS, as well as a few personal ones. Even now, all these years later, there are very few days when I don't think about him, but today he's felt a bit closer, having had the chance to pay a visit.

God bless, little one, we always miss you. xxx

Half a block, pink, and a smile for the heart

Rachael very kindly gave me a mention on her blog again yesterday - this time associated with a "Makes my heart Smile" button. Thank you oso much for that, Rachael - I love my daily visit to your blog, and chooose a different one of yor blogroll to check out most times, too. You know how it is, you find a blog you like, get waylaid onto one of their links, and so it goes on........ Now I have so many lovely blogs to visit, I need to update my sidebar. I'll do that, then see if I can narrow down 9 other good examples[ Rachael's would have to be one!] to fit into the category of "Makes my heart smile"
I've just realised how pink this post has turned, which reminds me how good it was to see Leeds United playing in an all pink strip earlier this week, in support of the breast cancer campaign. Well done lads!!

I did manage to finish block 3(a) of the Spanish Sampler, but have to wait to do 3(b) next weekend, to give me chance to get other things up to date. I'm not 100% sure of the second colour, yet, hopefully it will blend better when I get another pink in with it.............
Work today, and we're having to de-camp from the office, so one or two of the clients can use it for some appointments we've arranged for them. This looks like the opportunity we needed to get our routes planned for the new walking group. Nothing strenuous, just a couple of miles each, just a job we need to get on with.

Marching on

After a traumatic week, we've had a quiet weekend, and I've managed to make a start on the new piece of stitching I promised myself. One of the girls at work is getting married in May, and I want to do her a small sampler. Managed to get the border done this weekend.

I've also made a start on the Totally useless SAL! Yo Yo is running this on her blog, and it seemed like one SAL that I just couldn't resist ;)
